Des Bodley

Des Bodley is a banking consultant and trainer who has done extensive work in Ireland and abroad. He has worked in strategic reviews of various banks around the world and been involved in the implementation of change in their structures. Des also delivers training programmes in these banks. He delivers interactive credit training programmes via Internet and has recently completed these programmes with financial institutions in China and Thailand.

Prior to 1993 Des was with Bank of Ireland for over thirty years. In 1988 he was appointed Deputy General Manager in Dublin with responsibility for the operation and development of a region.

During his career with Bank of Ireland Des worked in both retail and corporate banking areas. While in retail banking he was promoted to manager of one of the large Dublin branches. Des spent six years in corporate banking with responsibility for large multinational customers. He was then appointed head of the bank’s credit unit in Dublin. This was during the economic recession of the 1980s and required making many difficult lending decisions.
