Robbie Syme is a banking and management consultant who has worked with banks in Ireland and eastern Europe. He has designed and implemented small business lending programs in these banks and has trained their staff in lending procedures.
Until 2002 Robbie worked in Bank of Ireland where he progressed from branch banking to Head of Credit for the Eastern Area of Bank of Ireland, which involved responsibility for all aspects of the bank’s lending in the Area. Following this role Robbie undertook the development and implementation of the bank’s credit scoring system for consumer lending and was the main business expert in a project to change the business lending process. In 1998 Robbie set up the hi-tech sector of Business Banking which specialised in providing the branch banking network with market-focussed assessments of technology companies in the software, telecomms, medical devices, biotech and innovative electronics businesses.
On leaving the bank, Robbie undertook a number of consultancies for the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development(EBRD) and delivered lending training courses in a number of Institutions. He currently actively chairs the board of directors of TerminalFour Solutions Ltd, an Irish software company delivering software primarily to the 3rd level educational sector worldwide, in addition to a number of positions in the charity sector.
Robbie is a graduate of the University of Limerick where he obtained 1st Place in the National Diploma in Business Studies (Banking) and is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Ireland and an Associate of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
